Professor Tracey Dickson 

Director – Menzies Institute for Medical Research 

Professor Dickson (BSc, PhD) is a neuroscientist with a national and international reputation in determining the pathological basis underlying Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s Disease and the neuronal response to trauma. She has extensive research leadership and management experience and is currently the Director of the Menzies Institute for Medical Research, at the University of Tasmania (appointed in 2023). Before this she held the role of Associate Dean Research for the College of Health and Medicine (2018-2022), Deputy Director at Menzies (2014-2018) and Acting Dean of Graduate Research (2019–2020). In addition to her leadership roles in the College and University more broadly, she leads an ambitious and productive research team at Menzies consisting of three post-docs, four PhD students, one research assistant and one honours student. She holds current CIA funding from the NHMRC Ideas Scheme, the ARC Discovery Scheme, Motor Neurone Disease Australia and Fight MND.
