A Chartered Accountant with a background in corporate finance, Rayne is a globally recognised pioneer in corporate sustainability and natural capital reporting — bringing rigour, credibility, and urgency to one of the defining challenges of our time: how do we account for the natural world in the decisions that shape it?

“Measuring a business’s most-material natural capital metrics and then understanding what those metrics mean for society and whether their value is accumulating or decretive will be a pivotal step towards living within our planetary boundaries and ensuring long-term sustainability. ”
– Rayne van den Berg - from The Evolution of Natural Capital Accounting by Rebecca Hu
As former CFO of Forico, Tasmania’s largest private forest manager, Rayne helped transform corporate decision-making — embedding the cost of externalities and the value of natural capital into the financial frameworks that drive business. She witnessed the signing of the Global Biodiversity Framework in Montreal, and in September 2023, she took to the stage at Climate Week in New York to present the world’s first Integrated TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) and TNFD (Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures) Disclosure at the global launch of the TNFD’s recommendations — a landmark moment in the evolution of nature-related financial reporting.
Now, Rayne is taking that expertise to a regional and global scale. As leader of Value Australia — a Capitals Coalition hub — she is building market confidence and capacity in Natural and Social Capital Valuation and Reporting across the region, mobilising an influential network to shape the impact economy of the future. She is also leading a landmark project with the International Sustainable Forestry Coalition and Capitals Coalition, supported by TNFD, to guide more than 18 of the world’s largest forestry owners in preparing standardised Natural Capital Reports ahead of COP31.
Her work is proof that Tasmania is not just part of the global conversation on nature and finance — it is helping to lead it.
