Andi Lucas
For Andi Lucas, the future is green – and it’s growing in Tasmanian soil.
As Founder and Managing Director of X-Hemp, Andi established Tasmania’s first fibre processing facility – a plant with remarkable potential to help build a more sustainable, fire-resilient future.
Through X-Hemp, Andi is helping unlock the possibilities of hemp fibre as a natural alternative to conventional construction materials. Durable, carbon-storing and non-toxic, hempcrete and fibre products offer real answers to some of our toughest challenges – from climate change to housing resilience.

“Our regional status is a huge advantage for hosting business events, with our conferencing venues located within easy reach of farms and production facilities for study tours.”
– Andi Lucas - 2023 BET Magazine
In 2022, Andi played a key role in bringing the Australian Industrial Hemp Conference to Launceston. Delegates from across the country saw the industry in action – from field-grown crops to fibre processing and oil extraction – all happening across northern Tasmania. The event was a showcase not just of innovation, but of place: demonstrating how Tasmania is leading the way in hemp production, research and collaboration.
As President of the Tasmanian Hemp Association, Andi continues to advocate for local industry growth and education. Through the BET Visionary Program, she’s committed to seeing more national and international events take root here – connecting people with ideas, and Tasmania with global opportunity.
