1665 Woolnorth Road TAS, AUSTRALIA
Your guide and the owner of the business is Laura Dabner. Laura purchased Woolnorth Tours from the previous owner Helen Schuuring (Laura’s mother) prior to her retirement at the beginning of 2015. Helen owned the business for 12 years prior to that time and is a wealth of knowledge still drawn upon today.
Laura is a proud Tasmanian aboriginal descendant and grew up on a beef farm in South Forest. Her family have strong links with the region, and she shares the many wonders of Woolnorth with pride and passion!
Topics covered during their tours include Wind Farm operations, the science behind the claim of the Cleanest Air in the World, agriculture, aboriginal history, colonial history, native wildlife, and Woolnorth Tours is the only way to stand on the clifftop at Cape Grim.
Do
Take your delegates on a guided tour of the remarkable Woolnorth property, located in Tasmania’s far north-west.
Spanning 22,000 hectares, this historic estate offers a fascinating glimpse into the region’s pastoral heritage. The tour includes access to the property’s original farm buildings, set against dramatic coastal landscapes.
Woolnorth is also home to Tasmania’s first wind farm, strategically positioned in the path of the Roaring Forties. Delegates can enjoy sweeping views over the Southern Ocean while learning about the site’s contribution to renewable energy at the on-site interpretive centre, which also explores Aboriginal heritage and the region’s role in global clean air monitoring.
A highlight of the tour is Cape Grim, globally renowned as the site where the Bureau of Meteorology has recorded the world’s cleanest air since 1976. Here, breathtaking seascapes stretch across the islands off Tasmania’s north-west tip. Sites of Aboriginal middens are close by and in calmer weather, the nearby waters become a hub for professional fishers harvesting abalone, calamari, and southern rock lobster from around the Doughboys.
