Set among the orchards of the Huon Valley, just 25 minutes south of Hobart, Willie Smith’s Apple Shed offers a distinctive setting for conferences, celebrations and group experiences. Built in 1942 as a working apple packing shed, the character-filled venue is now home to Willie Smith’s Cider, bringing together generations of apple-growing heritage with warm Tasmanian hospitality.

Flexible indoor and outdoor spaces can accommodate everything from intimate meetings and workshops to gala dinners and festival-style events. Seasonal local menus, award-winning organic cider, onsite-distilled spirits and experiences such as guided tastings, orchard walks and cider masterclasses connect delegates more deeply with the people, produce and stories of the Huon Valley.

Built in 1942 and full of character, Willie Smith’s Apple Shed is a truly unique venue for conferences, celebrations and large group events. Home to Willie Smith’s Cider, it’s located just 25 minutes south of Hobart in the picturesque Huon Valley.

Originally a working apple packing shed, the space now showcases the very best of Tasmania, with seasonal local produce, award-winning organic cider crafted from surrounding orchards, local wine and beer, and Willie Smith’s Spirits, distilled onsite in our hand-beaten copper still.

For four generations, the Smith family has grown apples in the Huon Valley. Today, that heritage lives on through the apples, cider, spirits and hospitality we proudly share with every guest.

Conference

The Apple Shed offers exclusive use of the venue and grounds for conferences, meetings, gala dinners and celebrations in a relaxed heritage setting. Flexible spaces can be tailored for presentations, networking events, workshops, live music and team experiences.

Beyond the conference, delegates can immerse themselves in the Willie Smith’s experience with guided cider or spirit tastings, seasonal orchard walks and cider masterclasses designed for incentive groups and team experiences.

For smaller groups, the Museum and Distillery provide distinctive breakout spaces ideal for board meetings, collaborative workshops or intimate gatherings. Delegates are encouraged to explore these spaces and discover the stories of Tasmania’s apple growing heritage and the generations of orchardists who helped shape the Huon Valley.

The venue accommodates:

20–140 guests for seated functions
Up to 200 guests for cocktail events
Up to 600 guests in a festival-style format using the outdoor grounds and adjacent Apple Shed Paddock.

Located just 25 minutes south of Hobart, Willie Smith’s Apple Shed is easily accessible by coach or private transfer. They recommend arranging transport with one of Tasmania’s local coach or shuttle operators for seamless travel to and from your event.
